The Noble Quran mentions certain temporal intervals with distinct characteristics, such as the “Day of the Lord” (Yawm Rabb), the “Day of the Ascending Stairways” (Yawm Dhi al-Ma‘ārij), the “Day of Resurrection” (Yawm al-Qiyāmah), and the “Blessed Night of Decree” (Laylat al-Qadr), collectively referred to as the “Divine Days” (Ayyām Ilāhiyyah). The interpretation and mystical exegesis (ta’wīl) of these sacred times have always been a subject of discussion and contemplation among Quranic commentators (mufassirūn), theologians (mutakallimūn), and divine philosophers (ḥukamāʾ). This paper, which falls within the scope of fundamental research, centers on the concern and core issue of achieving a more precise understanding of these temporal intervals based on the perspective of commentators of the Ibn ʿArabī school—especially Muḥammad ibn Ḥamzah al-Fanārī—regarding the key term “Yawm” (Day). What is understood from Ibn ʿArabī’s own writings and their reflection in al-Fanārī’s views is that “Yawm” encompasses any interval of existence in which a manifestation (ẓuhūr) and a concealment (khafāʾ) occur—manifestation corresponding to “day” (nahār) and concealment to “night” (layl). Through a descriptive-analytical method, this study arrives at a deeper, ontology-based understanding of the Divine Days, considering each of these intervals as a “Yawm” among the Divine Days. In each such “Yawm,” a certain reality either becomes manifest and then returns to concealment, or vice versa; the only difference among these Days lies in their relative length or brevity.
