In the contemporary intellectual landscape, the concept of Scientia Sacra—or Sacred Science—emerges as a critical corrective, necessitating a profound redefinition of the prevailing modern paradigm of education. This study posits that authentic science transcends mere secular inquiry into natural phenomena; it encompasses a disciplined, logical, yet simultaneously sacral contemplation of nature. Drawing principally upon the foundational works of perennialist philosophers - notably Seyyed Hossein Nasr, Frithjof Schuon, and René Guénon - this research elucidates the epistemic and ontological status of Sacred Science within contemporary pedagogy.
Employing a qualitative methodology of content analysis and philosophical hermeneutics, the investigation excavates the perennialist intellectual tradition across three constitutive axes: a sacred ontology, a sapiential anthropology, and an intuitive epistemology. Its central inquiry addresses how the revitalization of Sacred Science can diagnose and remediate the prevailing crisis of spirituality endemic to modern educational frameworks. Beyond theoretical exposition, the study proposes an operational model for the principled integration of sacred knowledge into contemporary curricular design. Its primary scholarly innovation lies in constructing a practical framework for re-engineering educational programs grounded in the tenets of Sacred Science.
The findings demonstrate that Sacred Science, conceived as holistic and integrative knowledge, fosters a balanced and comprehensive pedagogy. It achieves this by prioritizing the cultivation of humanity's transcendent dimension, facilitating profound self-discovery and spiritual identity formation, harmonizing the diverse aspects of human existence, and instilling inner discipline. Proposed pedagogical strategies include a hermeneutical re-engagement with the concept of religion, the incorporation of sacred art, the rebalancing of rational faculties, and the nurturing of the inward journey.
In conclusion, this research asserts that the perennialist approach, anchored in the principles of spiritual intellect and philosophia perennis, possesses the requisite capacity to enrich the modern educational paradigm. By transcending its characteristic reductionism, this approach paves the way for spiritual transcendence and the formation of an integrated, balanced human identity, capable of navigating the complexities of the contemporary world.
