The theory of imaginary mental matters (IÝtibÁriyyÁt), is one of the new and innovative viewpoints of ÝAllÁma tabÁtabÁi, which has not yet been properly analysed and investigated. An important step in describing his veiw about the imaginary mental matters, is paying attention to the variety of concepts and questions addressed in his various works. The primary supposition of this study is that what ÝAllÁma tabÁtabÁi has put forward in the discussion of imaginary mental matters, includes a range of minor views and theories in various semantic, logical, epistemological and ontological spheres, and would not just incorporate some questions of philosophy of ethics or the issue of the division of types of perception into the real and imaginary mental. On this basis, the prsesnt article tries, by re-examination and analysing the Allama’s arguments in this field, to separate various semantic, logical, epistemological and ontological dimensions of IÝtibÁriyyÁt and to classify the claims of the late ÝAllÁma in each sphere, so that, to be able to descibe this theory and its various aspects more carefully.
